Currently NOVEMBER

Linking up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her monthly Currently! It's been a while, but this is one of my favorite link ups.

Listening: AHS Freakshow- so creepy! Have you seen it? I like scary movies and shows, but this one takes the cake. The clown is SO scary! I am a few weeks behind because it's hard to find time to watch it after the baby goes up to bed, and I am starting to think it's a good thing I haven't seen them all. Eek.

Loving: My new flip chart markers! I just bought a few sets on Amazon. I like the bullet tip Sharpie flip chart markers for lettering and the chisel tip Mr. Scent markers for decorating, highlighting, and borders. They just came today. Can't wait to use them!

Thinking: I left a huge mess on my desk at school. Yuck! I try so hard not to do that, but I was so exhausted after Halloween madness all day I practically sleep walked out of there. Sigh- more to do on Monday morning.

Wanting: I would LOVE recommendations for upper level guided reading professional books! I have Guided Readers and Writers and use it often. I'm hoping to find more resources to add to my resources. Any recommendations?

Needing: I could use at least two naps. Maybe more. Teething is terrible! I was so unprepared for this. My sweet, quiet, smiley baby has turned into a drooling monster. He has had such a quick temper the past few days! The tooth finally broke through tonight, and I am seriously hoping that means the worst is behind me. Mother friends, please chime in.

Reading: Late to the game, as always, but I am reading the Outlander series. It's a really interesting concept. A nurse from the 1940s travels back in time after serving in WWII. She inadvertently ends up in 1743, and takes part in the Scottish uprising against England, in support of Prince Charles. Pretty good book!

Come back tomorrow morning for a little giveaway! :)

  1. I am a marker addict. A little colourful marker can make a drab lesson to fab. I am so thankful for sharpies!
I feel bubs pain my wisdom teeth are coming up as well so I can't imagine how it would feel for the little ones. Hopefully you're right and the worst is over :)

    1. I can't even help loving the markers! It's crazy how the truly little things ($5 for a pack of 12!) can really make my day. :) Of course, it helps that I bought Mr. Scent and they smell like childhood. Ha!

  2. Are you watching the Outlander TV series or just reading the books? I haven't had time for either yet.

    1. Reading the books! I am a book nerd. These one are SUPER long though... we're talking 800 - 1000 pages each. I haven't seen the series, but I did hear of the books through a magazine article about the series. I hear it is good!

  3. Mandy,

Teething...yeah, goodbye sleep!!!!! I have an 18month old who is a horrible sleeper and it wrecks my sleep. I don't know how you all watch that scary show btw!!! The previews are enough to say, NO THANKS!!!

P.S. You asked about my donors choose project? Any tips and/or tricks to get it funded?!?!? here's the link

    1. I love your donors choose project! It looks fantastic. The best thing I found to get mine funded was to watch the donors choose main page and twitter like a hawk. One day they posted a code to match every donation 100%, and the next day they posted one to match every donation 200%!!!! I copied down the codes and asked my family to give $5 or so. Once they did that, it showed up in the donation roll and I started getting funded. Good luck!

  4. I'm glad that all of my teacher friends understand how exciting it can be to find a good marker! My husband doesn't quite understand why I always ask him to fill my stocking with Expos and Sharpies, but they make me so, so happy!

I left a total mess on my desk too! We had a half day on Friday, but because my license is up for renewal at the end of the year, I had to attend a CPR and First Aid training. It was death by video and some of those scenarios might have been scarier than your American Horror Story! ;-)

I'm so happy to have found your blog through this month's Currently! I'm also a Red Sox plan. I earned my master's degree at Springfield College and taught in Springfield for three years as well. I miss being a drive away from Fenway!

    2. I love a fellow Red Sox fan! There is nothing like the feeling of a summer night at Fenway. My family has a long, long history of being Red Sox fans, and I am hoping my son follows in our footsteps.

If I remember correctly, you also teach fifth grade? It sounds like we have a lot in common!! :)

    3. I do teach fifth grade! I've been in 5th for 7 years now, so I think it's the right place for me, though now and then I dream of being a middle school teacher with only one subject to teach!

    4. That would be pretty great, I have to admit! Planning for only one subject... fantastic. :)

  5. I love Mr. Scent markers! Ugh, teething. I have 3 year old twins. Teething x2 was a small nightmare my husband and I managed to get through. It's all a blur now, but boy, hang in there. It will get better! I promise. By the way, I'm your newest Instagram, Bloglovin' and Twitter follower! Thanks for stopping by Literacy Loving Gals to comment. Your blog is super adorable as well! ;)

    1. OH my goodness- I can't imagine doing it with twins! Until the past few days, my guy was a sweet and charming little fellow. He even slept reasonably well. I thought "oh, two would be adorable" but I've suddenly changed my mind. Ahh! How did you do it? Lots and lots of days of no sleep, I imagine. Eek!

  6. Guided Reading in Grades 3-6 and Guided Reading-Making It Work (This one is K-3, but I still found some good things in it.)by Mary Browning Schulman (?) and The Next Step in Guided Reading by Jan Richardson are good. I also like Debbie Diller-her Practice with Purpose and Making the Most of Small Groups are nice. I hope these help!

Honestly I thought the first couple episodes were not up to the greatness of past seasons. And then, this week's episode happen and I had to hit myself for being a little disappointed. Just wait!
